Dual Board-Certified Podiatric Surgeon

Dr. Zachary Lubek is board certified in both Forefoot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery — a dual certification that reflects the breadth and depth of his surgical training. This means he is qualified to treat conditions across the entire foot and ankle complex, from precise forefoot corrections to complex reconstructive procedures of the rearfoot and ankle joint.

Minimally Invasive Surgical Techniques

Dr. Lubek specializes in minimally invasive surgical techniques that offer significant advantages for patients: smaller incisions, less post-operative scarring, reduced pain, and faster recovery times. For many foot and ankle conditions that once required open surgery with extended downtime, minimally invasive approaches can achieve the same structural correction through a fraction of the tissue disruption. This is especially important for active patients who need to return to work or sport as quickly as possible.

Sports Medicine & Athletic Background

As a former Division I tennis player at Portland State University, Dr. Lubek brings a personal understanding of what it means to rely on your feet and ankles at the highest competitive level. That athletic background fuels his expertise in sports medicine — treating stress fractures, ankle sprains, Achilles tendon injuries, plantar fasciitis, and the full range of foot and ankle conditions that keep athletes sidelined. He understands the urgency of getting back in the game and designs treatment plans with return-to-sport timelines in mind.

Ankle Arthroscopy

Dr. Lubek's advanced training in ankle arthroscopy allows him to diagnose and treat complex ankle conditions through a minimally invasive approach. Using a small camera and specialized instruments inserted through tiny incisions, arthroscopy enables direct visualization of the ankle joint — making it possible to address cartilage damage, loose bodies, impingement, and chronic ankle instability with precision and minimal recovery time.

Diabetic Limb Salvage

One of Dr. Lubek's most critical areas of expertise is diabetic limb salvage. For patients with diabetes-related foot complications — including chronic wounds, infections, and Charcot foot — the goal is always to preserve the limb and prevent amputation through advanced wound care, surgical debridement, and reconstructive techniques. This work requires both surgical skill and a deep understanding of the systemic factors that affect healing in diabetic patients.

Trauma Surgery & Montana Roots

Dr. Lubek is also experienced in trauma surgery, treating acute fractures, dislocations, and crush injuries of the foot and ankle. A Montana native from Helena, he is proud to serve the community he calls home. Patients consistently recognize his precise surgical technique and his compassionate, straightforward bedside manner — taking time to explain conditions clearly and involve patients in every treatment decision.
