Why a Foot Sprain Needs Specialist Evaluation
Foot sprains are common, and most heal well. The problem is they are also commonly missed. Standard X-rays don't show ligament injuries, so a foot sprain at urgent care often gets a "looks fine, take it easy" report when something more is going on.
The longer a foot sprain goes untreated, the more likely it is to develop into chronic pain, instability, or joint damage that needs more aggressive treatment later. Early evaluation by a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon is the best protection against that.
How We Treat Foot Sprains
Direct Evaluation by a Surgeon
You are seen by a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon. We examine the specific structures of the foot, identify which ligament is involved, and assess stability. Imaging is performed when indicated, including stress films or advanced imaging if needed.
Conservative Care First
Most foot sprains heal with protected weight-bearing, supportive footwear or boot immobilization, and a progressive return to activity. We build a plan that fits your injury and your goals.
Advanced Treatment When Needed
For severe foot sprains, persistent pain, or sprains that don't respond to conservative care, we coordinate advanced imaging and surgical treatment at Northern Rocky Surgery Center when indicated.
Integrated Post-Op Physical Therapy
When recovery calls for it, our in-house physical therapy team handles rehabilitation in the same building. Your surgeon and your therapist coordinate directly.
